NerdioCon 2024 Nerd Icon: Brian Caddell, Intel

NerdioCon 2024 is just around the corner! From February 12–16, 2024, we will be in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for our third annual in-person, all-inclusive partner conference, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring industry leaders together to tackle the most important topics our teams are facing.

Each week leading up to the event, we’re publishing installments of our Nerd Icon blog series to give you a sneak peek of some of the experts you can expect to hear at the event. Our next featured speaker is Brian Caddell, Cloud Solutions Architect at Intel!

Tell us about Intel and your current role with them

Intel is a global technology company that is renowned for designing and manufacturing semiconductor chips, innovation, and providing a range of hardware and software solutions for computing, data processing, connectivity, and security.

I am a Cloud Solutions Architect responsible for influencing and driving adoption and preference for Intel-based solutions for cloud infrastructure and cloud/data services. I also help drive revenue growth by accelerating the adoption of solution architectures that showcase Intel’s advanced products and technologies, and I cultivate senior-level relationships with global cloud service providers (CSPs), digital services/SaaS providers, enterprise and public sector customers, and SI/MSP partners to maximize Intel mind share.

Understanding Intel CPU and GPU technology can help your team further optimize your solution and increase performance, often reduce total cost of ownership, and help you build the most mal solution for your organization or your client. Whether you realize it or not, if you are utilizing any technology today, you are using Intel somewhere in your daily life. I help ensure that you are utilizing the latest Intel technology for your use case to help you have the best experience possible.

Why do you enjoy working in IT? What makes it unique?

I have a passion for IT and find fulfillment in addressing business challenges through technology solutions. Collaborating with partners is particularly rewarding, as it often involves multiple ecosystem partners working together to implement a solution or architecture for their customers. Crucially, Intel depends on thriving partnerships to integrate our technology and capabilities into our partners’ operations, facilitating the delivery of their products and services to the market.

What will you be presenting about at NerdioCon 2024?

We are going to discuss the significance of considering the CPU when choosing a virtual machine in Azure, especially in relation to its impact on performance for AVD workloads. While you might find more budget-friendly virtual machines, their performance may not match up, potentially leading to increased costs and reduced efficiency for your solution or your client. Intel, in collaboration with Nerdio, can assist you in establishing an optimal AVD environment.

Although cost is always a concern, performance is critical. As you build out AVD environments for your client, you want to guarantee you are architecting an optimal solution and ensuring overall client satisfaction. Intel can help make recommendations, and we can often provide benchmarks and data points to support them.

What are you looking forward to most about the event?

I’m thrilled to join NerdioCon for the first time, and I’m excited to engage with this community of existing and potential partners. It’s an exciting opportunity to showcase the innovative projects Intel is currently involved in and gain insights from fellow attendees. I anticipate meaningful conversations with a wide range of people, aiming to maximize this opportunity to contribute and be of service.

What are some topics or pain points that your company can help channel partners with that you’ll be discussing at NerdioCon?

We are the technology that is helping to power a large majority of today’s public clouds. We will be discussing some generation-to-generation improvements across Intel-based instances while also sharing about our latest generation of Intel Xeon processors and performance gains that we look forward to having availability in the hyperscalers in the near future.
