Nerdio Manager for Enterprise 8.2: Modernize and operate Windows Cloud your way

There is no single path to Windows Cloud.

Here are some of the biggest updates in Nerdio Manager 8.2. 

Modernize on your terms with expanded AVD Hybrid support 

Modernization doesn't have to mean moving every workload to the public cloud at once. 

With Nerdio Manager 8.2, AVD Hybrid support for Nutanix is now generally available, giving organizations another way to bring the Azure Virtual Desktop experience to existing infrastructure while managing the environment through Nerdio. 

The release also adds Real-Time Insights for Nutanix host pools, faster session host deployment, and bulk management capabilities across Nutanix host pools and session hosts. 

And the AVD Hybrid story is expanding further. Preview support for VMware vSphere gives organizations with existing VMware environments another path to explore AVD while continuing to make use of their infrastructure investments. 

Together, these capabilities give IT teams greater flexibility to determine where workloads should run today while creating a path toward the Windows Cloud environment they want tomorrow. 

Operate distributed AVD environments as one 

As AVD expands across host pools and locations, the environment shouldn't become exponentially harder to operate. 

Global Pools, available in Public Preview, gives organizations a higher-level way to manage distributed AVD environments across users, workloads, policies, and host pools. 

Nerdio Manager 8.2 significantly expands the Global Pools experience with percentage-based workload distribution, Entra ID attribute-based assignments, support for multiple Entra ID groups, bulk host pool creation, and consolidated assignment and failover policy management. 

Global Pools can also now work across more of the Nerdio platform, including Console Connect, Real-Time Insights, application deployment policies, and Host Pool Profiles. 

The goal is simple: As your AVD footprint grows, your operational complexity doesn't have to grow with it. 

Turn more Windows Cloud data into useful insight 

Better decisions start with understanding what's actually happening across the environment. 

App Metering for Intune Insights, available in Public Preview, gives administrators visibility into application usage across managed devices. Instead of seeing only what is installed, IT teams can begin to understand what is actually being used. 

That insight can help organizations evaluate their application portfolio, identify applications with little or no usage, support application rationalization, and uncover potential license reclamation opportunities. 

Nerdio Manager 8.2 also introduces new reporting capabilities that bring data from across Windows Cloud into a more flexible reporting experience. Administrators can create reports using data across AVD, Windows 365, and Intune, helping teams answer questions specific to their environment without manually piecing together information from multiple places. 

Together, these capabilities give IT teams more context to understand what they have, how it's being used, and where there may be opportunities to optimize. 

Reduce everyday administration with self-service and automation 

Not every routine action should require an IT ticket, and not every repeatable process should require an administrator to execute it manually. 

With Nerdio Manager 8.2, administrators can enable Windows 365 users to perform common actions on their assigned Cloud PCs directly through the Nerdio end-user portal. Users can reprovision, restore, and restart their Cloud PCs, while IT maintains control over whether self-service is available. 

We're also taking Scripted Sequences further. 

Scripted Sequences already gives IT teams a way to orchestrate repeatable, multi-step administrative workflows. In 8.2, those workflows can execute reliably across substantially larger device populations, while dedicated RBAC controls provide more granular governance over who can view, manage, and execute automation. 

The result is less time spent managing individual tasks and more opportunity to operate the environment at scale. 

Build toward what's next 

Windows Cloud operations aren't standing still. 

Infrastructure is increasingly managed through APIs and code. Automation continues to become more sophisticated. And organizations are beginning to explore how AI agents could interact with enterprise IT environments. 

Nerdio Manager 8.2 introduces the Nerdio Manager MCP server in Public Preview, providing an opt-in, read-only foundation for compatible AI systems to access supported Nerdio Manager data while keeping administrators in control. 

This initial release supports read-only access to supported Azure Virtual Desktop information through MCP. It's an early step toward more agentic IT workflows, built with enterprise visibility, permissions, and governance in mind. 

8.2 also expands the underlying platform with a preview of the Nerdio Terraform module for supported AVD resources, broader REST API capabilities, Entra ID PIM support for Nerdio Manager roles, multiple REST API credentials, and greater visibility into Private Endpoint configuration. 

Together, these investments make it easier for organizations to integrate Nerdio into the automation, identity, infrastructure-as-code, and operational practices they already use.
