How Nerdio helped Ossur step into the future of prosthetic innovation
Globally, thirty-five to forty million people need prosthetic and orthotic care according the World Health Organization.
Prosthetics are more than just devices. They are lifelines to mobility and independence by millions of people worldwide.
My name is Robert, and my role in Ossur is I'm a senior administrator.
We are a prosthetic and operation company. We manufacture medical devices, prosthetics, orthopedics, and actually originally founded by a person that had the need for those kind of services. Ossur, a global leader in Prosthetics, faced significant technical challenges that slowed down internal operations and limited their ability to better serve amputees. Managing their IT environment required multiple admins and was overly complex. To remove friction and streamline operations, Ossur migrated from Citrix to Nerdio. The transition simplified their infrastructure and empowered their teams to focus on what matters most. My name is Neil McLoughlin. I'm a principal technical account manager at Nerdio. When we began the journey with them, we took a look at their Citrix environment, and then we made some suggestions of how they should architect their environment from an AVD and Nerdio perspective. So we needed to switch from Citrix because they were being difficult in licensing. And to actually have a good management, you need need a management tool. Nerdio provides that, definitely. AVD on itself doesn't really do that. It is quite complex. When they were ready for the migration, we essentially walked with them hand in hand to sort of help them to make sure that was successful. Working with Neil was really helpful. I would say he was crucial in the implementation of Nerdio and AVD. With Nerdio, Ossur reduced IT overhead and redirected that time and energy towards helping more people access life-changing mobility solutions. Before, when we were working with Citrix, it required several admins to be sort of dedicated into that field. But today, we feel that we have less need for dedicated support. So we are able to focus more on value added project for the business. The license cost is a huge factor and is one of the biggest factors for us actually moving into Nerdio. Our estimate is like seventy percent cost reduction in licenses alone, and we are also seeing quite a bit of a reduction in maintaining host servers because we need fewer servers because Nerdio is doing things differently and doing things that Citrix could not do. We kind of follow them through the whole journey. It's been a really good joint story success from a Nerdio perspective, from a Microsoft perspective, and a customer perspective as well because we've all worked very closely together to to make this a success. In Sweden, Neil surprised the Ossur team with a personal connection to their brand.
During the Stockholm event when Neil came to us and and told us that he was actually using some of the Ossur products, which we didn't know about, that was quite surprising.
It also gives you that, like, sense of pride that we mentioned earlier, that you're helping people without knowing them.
So, I've been an amputee for most of my adult life.
And Ossur is a company. They make prosthetic legs. And there's not many times in your career where you get to work on something which is so passionate from a personal level because you know personally what they can do for people's lives.
You know, going to work and to know that you make some sort of a contribution to people's lives and their health.
It's really important. We liked helping each other and it's like enabling each other. He was helping us and Ossur as a company was helping him.
For the first time in my life, I was able to do something which I could never do before. Okay? And that's been enabled by companies like Ossur, because they give the people who needs the tools to do so. Right? So that's why I'm so passionate about it because I know what a difference they can make to people's lives.
