Managed service provider ACTS360 was founded to provide churches, non-profits, and small businesses with high-quality technical expertise at an accessible price. The organization has leveraged many different private clouds on behalf of its clients, but the performance and pricing limitations each presented were insurmountable.
“Our last cloud vendor was going to be significantly increasing our rates, and we had 30 days to decide how best to move forward,” said ACTS360 CEO Greg Sweers. “We had lost a lot of clients because of past issues with private clouds and the constant migrations. Our next cloud needed to be reliable and priced right.”
Fortunately, Sweers had already been in talks with Nerdio about moving to Microsoft Azure. While he initially thought Nerdio’s claims were too good to be true, given ACTS360’s track record with private clouds and tight timeline, Sweers was ready to take the plunge to the Azure public cloud.
Trust in Nerdio
ACTS360 was able to quickly and seamlessly migrate its customers into the Nerdio environment, spin up new Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktops, migrate files, and shut down old RDS servers.
“Nerdio made everything ‘point-and-click’ easy,” Sweers reported. “Our lowest cost employees can now oversee daily maintenance of the environment while our senior engineers do the heavy lifting. It not only empowers our technicians but makes us much more efficient.”
Application management previously created a lot of unnecessary work for the team. ACTS360 had been using a third-party vendor to build and manage standard templates for Intune, but they weren’t being implemented consistently across clients.
“The Intune templates released in Nerdio Manager for MSP have simplified application management and eliminated the time we wasted verifying the work of another vendor,” added Sweers. “With Nerdio, we can be confident that the templates are being implemented to our exact specifications and standards across the board.”
The efficiencies generated by the switch to Nerdio and Azure also had a significant impact on ACTS360’s customer base. At 99% positive, client feedback has never been higher because Nerdio’s efficiencies enable technicians to respond much faster to tickets. But more importantly, Nerdio allows ACTS360 to keep costs low for the churches and non-profits they serve.
“In the face of looming Citrix and VMware price hikes, we were able to transition to Nerdio and Azure, keep our customers’ costs the same, and maintain or even increase our margins,” Sweers continued. “Plus, Nerdio’s Auto-Scaling feature helps clients make the most of their limited budgets by turning off desktops and other resources not in use.”
Nerdio exceeds expectations
Today, ACTS360 has 16 full-time employees managing 2,200 agents with 129 Nerdio. Based on how easy and cost-effective Azure is with Nerdio, Sweers is in the process of migrating his entire customer base and datacenter.
“Between more streamlined operations, less administrative work, and lower insurance premiums with Microsoft Azure, our costs have been greatly reduced. It just makes sense to fully commit,” noted Sweers. “With Nerdio Manager for MSP, we’ve been able to scale the business without additional hires, keeping our profit margins high. Nerdio not only bolsters the capabilities of my team, but also enables us to better serve our non-profit clients at an affordable rate.
“The transition to a public cloud was scary at first, but after seeing how robust yet easily manageable Azure can be, I regret not making the move years ago. Nerdio has delivered on its promises tenfold.”
