June 14th through June 28th, 2021

Registration is now closed.

The Purpose

The goal of Nerdio’s Scripted Actions Hackathon is to help each other, globally, by solving and simplifying day-to-day challenges of setting up, managing, and (cost) optimizing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure environments. This can relate to all sorts of different topics and services, including all Azure services related to AVD as well as image management, MSIX AppAttach, and more.

All Scripted Actions will be made publicly available and will be free for everyone to use in their own environment, with or without Nerdio installed!

Scripts do not have to be Nerdio-specific! Choose between the predetermined “Challenges” category or something unique that you decide in the “Freestyle” category centered around AVD/Azure management, optimizations, automation, etc. – or participate in both!

Make sure to check out the detailed breakdown of Hackathon rules for everything you need to know.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Who Can Participate?

Anyone! Nerdio’s Scripted Action Hackathon is open to anyone; you don’t have to be a master scripter. The Nerdio Hackathon is open to all skill sets, whether it’s a simple one-line of PowerShell code or 150 Lines of JSON, for example.

Participants will enjoy some friendly competition while potentially winning a prize (or two).  What is not to like?

Hackathon Structure

There are two competition levels: Beginner and Advanced. Both levels will be reviewed and ranked individually and will have separate prizes. You must choose the beginner or advanced category and are not allowed to enter both, however you may participate in both the Challenges and Freestyle categories (either Beginner of Advanced only).

The Hackathon will last for two weeks, starting June 14, 2021 and ending on June 28, 2021.

Challenges Category:

You can pick one or multiple challenges that we have predetermined for you to solve using scripted actions (scripts).

Since almost all challenges can be solved in multiple ways, being original and creative will help score more points.

Freestyle Category:

Aside from the predetermined “Challenge” category, there will be a “Freestyle” category as well (for both beginners and advanced). You will be empowered to submit any type of scripted action you can think of, such as solving an issue or challenge, adding additional functionality, improving existing functionality, cost savings, etc. It must be related to AVD or Azure and its services, however.

Participants can also participate in both the Challenges and Freestyle categories
