Employee Spotlight: Get to Know Ben Morrow

What’s your role here at Nerdio? What do you do on a day-to-day basis and how do you help partners/customers?

I’m the Business Systems Manager which involves working with my team to maintain and improve all of the apps and processes our company uses on a daily basis. I also wear another hat which is interfacing with our distributor partners that resell Nerdio Manager for MSP and making sure that they are enabled to help our mutual partners and create even more Nerdio business.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know/couldn’t guess?

I’m at least 50% country boy. I spent a lot of my childhood in southern MO raising cattle (which I was not a fan of) and spending as much time out in the woods as possible. I still love doing some gardening and getting out into nature when I get a chance.

What’s one technological advancement you hope to see or think we will see in the next ten years?

I’m hoping for more breakthroughs in nuclear fusion. Big steps toward more efficient energy production are always great to see.

What are three movies you’d bring with you to a deserted island?

Memento, The Empire Strikes Back, and Airplane

In your opinion, what’s the most rewarding part of working for Nerdio?

The most rewarding part for me is knowing that my work is making a positive impact on other members of the company and on our partners and customers that are out there trying to empower their technology to work for them.

What sitcom family or friend group would you choose to be a part of?

Probably The Good Place. Definitely a fun group and they’re always working on improving themselves.

Besides a standard computer, what is the earliest piece of technology you remember owning?

Surprisingly, I didn’t really have a ton of technology growing up. Probably the first thing I owned for myself was an XBOX 360.

You’ve been with Nerdio for a while now. What’s motivated you to stick around?

I can’t say enough about how great of a team we have here. Nerdio has managed to put together a group of smart and passionate people that have been a blast to work with.

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned while working in tech?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You’ll learn faster from other people’s experiences than you will by guessing on your own.

What’s a current technology trend you’re passionate about?

I’m finding recent advances in AI very interesting. Even with all the uncertainty, there are a lot of practical applications for AI that can make life better. Here’s to hoping we don’t build a real-life Skynet!
